I am officially a whole year older, and boy was I wrong! 22 is going to be a spectacular year based on the festivities from yesterday.  I am so unbelievable lucky to be here in England this year, but I never expected that I would be so lucky to have met the most amazing friends who made my Birthday one for the record books.  As my friends did not want me waking up alone on my Birthday they had me stay over in their building for a sleep over the eve of my Birthday.  At Midnight they are came flowing into the room to sing to me, music to my ears!  The next morning was very relaxed since everyone had classes at different times, but through all their busy schedules they all managed to have lunch with me at our campus pub.  As I believe Valentines Day is not only for couples but for everyone to show their appreciation to those they love I instilled a new rule for the day that no one is to be mean to one another, and if you were caught being mean you had to go around the table and say why you love each person there.  It was a game, or punishment for some, that we all enjoyed throughout the day, and almost everyone was caught at least once and had to say why they loved everyone, which is why I refer to Valentines day as Love Day... which will hopefully catch on.  Later that evening after my one and only class, just us girls met up for drinks at a fancier restaurant bar on campus.  It was so nice having time with my girls, all of whom have been so important to me and I always have a good time being with them.  To our surprise when we arrived back to the flat the boys had made us all dinner and had decorated the kitchen all romantically.  It made me cry as they had put so much thought and effort into the evening, and to go through all that trouble for us was exceptional.  Three boys and six girls, they rose to the challenge and conquered all our hearts.  They had even drawn up a menu, there was a starter soup, lasagna for the main, and cupcakes and cake for dessert and they all had meat and vegetarian options to accommodate everyone.  The food was remarkable, they sure are keepers! Afterwards the night was still young so we all went out dancing.  The entire day I felt so loved and appreciated and that is more then I could have ever hoped for for my Birthday.  Those who I was unable to be with in person I still felt your presence and the love you all sent me via email or facebook.  It means so much to me that you could all take time out of your busy lives to wish me a Happy Birthday, and I love you all so much for it.  Thank you for being a part of my life!  Hope you all enjoyed your Love Day!

365 days as 21

As it will be my Birthday soon and I will be turning twenty two, a number which to me means "boring" -in a nutshell, I would like to reflect on my past year as a "vivacious" twenty one year old.
It was soon after turning 21 that I was told I was accepted into the study abroad program, a feat that took my blood sweat and tears to accomplish but that all seems so small compared to what I have now experienced in return.  I cannot seem to stress the fact enough that I would not be here without all of you who read this blog!  I have been so fortunate to have such an amazing and supportive family who encourages me to conquer the things others can only dream of.  I continue to pinch myself on a daily basis because being out here is so surreal.  I have met the most incredible people and have seen so much beauty, in those around me and in the places I have traveled.  So you can see how I can be so found of being twenty one since so much has happened to me within that time period, it definitely has been an important landmark in my life, a year of possibilities and successes.  So while I joke that the turning of my age will change me I know that it can only be towards the better, because with age comes wisdom....so I'll be boring but wise.

21 things I conquered while being 21:
1. accepted into the study abroad
2. worked my summer away (and met some of my best friends in doing so!)
3. crashed a car ( not one of my better moments)
4. finally got to see my parents cottage which they have done an amazing job on
5. in an accident on the tarmac going to our plane in Brussels (was not injured, although plane was delayed)
6. survived Oktoberfest
7. got a ticket while on a train in Hungary
8. went to an ice bar in Oslo
9. slept less then 10 hours while in Istanbul for three nights
10. visited Asia and Europe in one day (also in Istanbul)
11. slept in an airport in Madrid
12. traveled with my sister in Europe (my favorite by far)
13. was almost stranded in Ireland from getting off the bus to early
14. spent an entire flight indisposed (for those who do not know this story you really want to keep it that way)
15. saw the Eiffel Tower
16. had the worst New Years of my life, but its one I'll never forget
17. survived the flight on New Years day after having the worst New Years ever!
18. took a romantic Gondola ride in Venice
19. Couch surfed in Oslo, Madrid, and Florence (all unique in themselves)
20. traveled to Austria by myself
21. living in England, and loving it!

Come get me twenty two, I couldn't be more ready for you!
